Working at LeanMind

The thought 'This must be done better' was the catalyst for the founding of LeanMind GmbH. After many years as a risk management consultant in the financial industry, Hussam Greg wanted to create a platform that integrates, efficiently manages, and keeps Governance, Risk & Compliance current for companies. Special emphasis is placed on user-friendliness: the responsible employees in banks and insurance companies should be able to use the Leno platform with only a short onboarding period and enjoy working with it.

After its founding on July 9, 2021, Hussam Greg initially worked with a team of freelance developers who created a fully functional application. Since then, the range of features has continuously expanded.

Since 2022, LeanMind has employed its first full-time staff and has been growing organically ever since. The customer base has steadily increased since the company's inception. Companies receive Leno as cloud-based software along with consulting services from experienced consultants.

What makes working in a smaller company so appealing?

One major fun factor in smaller companies is the way roles are structured. Because of the company’s size, there isn’t yet a dedicated person for every single task or role — so roles tend to be broader. Topics that don’t yet take up much time are combined or added to existing roles.For employees, this offers the chance to expand their skills into adjacent or even completely new areas and to discover new opportunities for themselves. It’s also easier for them to see the purpose of their work, since they can oversee larger process chains.

Without any value judgment — figuratively speaking, some people are more like “specialized tools,” while others are more like “Swiss Army knives.” And especially in smaller companies, you need people who enjoy that kind of variety.

For us, that means we only hire full-stack developers. Of course, some enjoy the backend more, others prefer the frontend, but in the end, everyone can do everything. Our consultants work directly with our clients, but they’re also deeply involved in product development. And when it comes to internal roles, many topics end up there that haven’t yet been addressed elsewhere.
